In a devastating incident during Diwali celebrations, a family of Indian heritage residing in London faced a horrific house fire, resulting in the loss of at least five lives, including three children. The Metropolitan Police, initiating an investigation into the tragedy, confirmed the fatalities on Monday. Although the victims' names have not been disclosed, local sources indicate the family had recently moved to London from Belgium.

Met Police Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson expressed condolences, acknowledging the profound impact on the community and promising a thorough inquiry. The distressing event unfolded on Sunday night at a residence in Channel Close, Hounslow. Emergency services, including the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service, responded promptly after receiving a call at approximately 2230 local time.

The authorities discovered the bodies of five victims within the property, while a sixth person remains unaccounted for. Preliminary reports suggest all six individuals belong to the same family. A male family member exited the house before emergency services arrived and is currently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. As a precaution, neighboring properties were evacuated, and investigations into the fire's cause are ongoing. The police have made no arrests at this early stage.

Dileep Singh, a relative from Manchester, expressed desperation for information about his brother-in-law, who was at the residence with his wife, three children, and two adult guests. Singh mentioned being told that the fire originated from outside, possibly from a bin. The family is actively seeking information, and Singh stated their intention to visit the hospital for updates.

In response to the tragic incident, the London Ambulance Service dispatched multiple resources, including ambulance crews, paramedics, incident response officers, and members of the Hazardous Area Response Team. The family's recent relocation to London adds another layer of complexity to the unfolding narrative.
