In a dramatic incident in the picturesque town of Shimla, a five-story building owned by Raj Kumar collapsed in Marahwag village at 16 Mile. Fortunately, the evacuation efforts proved successful, with no reported injuries as occupants left the building in anticipation of its collapse.

The incident unfolded around 12 pm, causing substantial damage to the road leading to the Government Degree College in Dhami. Officials pointed to the building's sinking and cracked base columns as the primary reasons behind the collapse. Notably, the power supply to the building was pre-emptively disconnected, adding another layer of precaution.

The collapse disrupted traffic movement, particularly on the route to the Government Degree College. Sub Divisional Magistrate (Rural) Nishant, overseeing the aftermath, clarified that the building succumbed to the consequences of excavation work in the hilly terrain. This revelation underlines the delicate balance between construction activities and the stability of the landscape.

Further investigation revealed that Dinesh Kumar, while constructing his house in the area above the collapsed building, inadvertently contributed to the structural instability. This incident emphasizes the critical importance of adherence to safety protocols and regulations, especially in hilly regions prone to such challenges.

In conclusion, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of structures in hilly areas and the essential need for thorough safety assessments during construction. The prompt evacuation and preventive measures mitigated potential human casualties, highlighting the significance of preparedness in averting disasters.
