Newly-Wed Couple Among Five Killed in Tragic Car-Truck Crash on Jaipur Highway

A high-speed collision on Jaipur’s Dausa-Manpharpur highway killed five people, including a newly-wed couple from Madhya Pradesh. A truck driving on the wrong side crashed into a car carrying 12 wedding attendees. Eight others were critically injured. Authorities are searching for the driver, who fled the scene after the crash.

A devastating road accident on the Dausa-Manpharpur National Highway (NH-148) near Jaipur claimed the lives of five people, including a newly-wed couple, early Wednesday morning. The collision occurred around 6 a.m. when a speeding truck, allegedly driving on the wrong side, slammed into a car carrying 12 passengers returning from a wedding function in Madhya Pradesh.

The victims, identified as Bharti Meena (18) and her husband Vikram Meena (25), along with Jetu Kumawat (33), Subhash Meena (28), and Ravi Kumar (17), were pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital. Eight others sustained critical injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.

According to the Raisar police station, the group was en route to Dausa when the truck, reportedly traveling at high speed against traffic, struck their vehicle head-on. Following the collision, the truck driver fled the scene. Authorities have launched a search operation to locate and apprehend the suspect.

Local residents were quick to respond, helping transport the injured to the nearest hospital before emergency services arrived. Police confirmed that the bodies have been sent for autopsy and that the families of the deceased have been notified. A formal investigation has begun, and a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed upon the arrival of the victims’ relatives.

This incident is the latest in a series of fatal accidents on Rajasthan highways, highlighting persistent concerns over road safety and reckless driving. The tragedy has left two families shattered, especially with the loss of the young couple just days after their wedding.
