Indian star athlete Neeraj Chopra, dubbed the 'golden boy,' has received a prestigious nomination. He is one of the 11 athletes vying for the World Athlete of the Year 2023 award, an announcement made by World Athletics.

Chopra, after a remarkable year, has earned his place in this elite list. He etched his name in history by securing the gold medal at the World Athletics Championship held in Budapest. This momentous achievement marked the first time an Indian athlete accomplished such a feat.

The 25-year-old went on to solidify his reputation further. He clinched the second position at the Diamond League in 2023 and successfully defended his gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Notably, he faced stiff competition from his compatriot Kishore Jena, who briefly held the gold medal position, only to be surpassed by Chopra's season-best throw.
