In a thrilling IPL 2024 auction held in Dubai, Mitchell Starc created history, smashing Pat Cummins' record. The bidding war skyrocketed as Starc fetched a staggering 24.75 crore, making IPL history. Starc's acquisition marked the astronomical demand for Australian cricket stars at the auction. Kolkata Knight Riders outbid multiple teams, securing Starc, who surpassed Cummins' record to become the highest-paid player in IPL history.

Teams like Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and Kolkata Knight Riders vied for Starc. Initially, Delhi and Mumbai engaged in the bidding but withdrew near the 10 crore mark. Kolkata and Gujarat then fiercely contested, escalating the bidding. The atmosphere electrified as Starc's price crossed the 20 crore mark, drawing applause. Eventually, Kolkata Knight Riders clinched the deal near the 25-crore mark, fulfilling their fervent pursuit.

Interestingly, despite Starc's high demand, his previous IPL experiences varied. He played for RCB in 2015 but remained untouched in this auction. Despite an earlier association with KKR in 2018, an injury prevented his participation. KKR also secured KS Bharat and Chetan Sakariya at 50 lakh each in the bidding frenzy.

With Starc's record-breaking bid, KKR's squad for IPL 2024 includes an array of talented players. Alongside Starc, they boast a team comprising Nitish Rana, Shreyas Iyer, Andre Russell, and other skilled individuals.
