Kirti Azad:-

Former India all-rounder and Congress leader Kirti Azad criticized the BJP-led government for inaction against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and a BJP MP. Azad highlighted the mistreatment of women wrestlers during a peaceful demonstration, leading them to consider discarding their medals in the Ganga River. He stressed that these medals symbolize personal achievements and national pride.

Azad questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who were quick to take selfies with wrestler Sakshi Malik after her Olympic victory but now remain silent. He reminded them that athletes compete for the nation, not for political figures.

POCSO Act Ignored: Azad Raises Concerns over Lack of Arrest

The former cricketer expressed disappointment with the government's failure to act against Brij Bhushan Singh, facing multiple sexual harassment allegations. Azad noted the proper procedures followed by the wrestlers, initially approaching the government and later filing a police complaint. Only after seeking the Supreme Court's intervention was an FIR finally filed.

Azad emphasized one serious allegation falling under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which mandates immediate arrest. He questioned the absence of an arrest despite the gravity of the accusations.

In conclusion, Kirti Azad passionately criticized the government's inaction regarding the mistreatment of women wrestlers and the failure to hold the accused accountable. He called out the silence of prominent leaders who once associated themselves with sporting achievements but now remain silent. Azad demanded swift justice, as any delay amounts to a denial of justice.
