A startling incident unfolded on the Pune-Ahmednagar road as a tanker transporting ethylene oxide overturned near the Vadgaon Sheri intersection early Monday morning. The spillage of the gas in this densely populated area triggered immediate concern among officials.

In response, authorities promptly dispatched a fleet of eight fire engines from Pune along with the PMRDA fire brigade. The gravity of the situation disrupted normal traffic flow on the affected road. Concurrently, strenuous efforts were initiated to offload the contents of the overturned tanker, facilitated by expertise from Reliance Petrochemicals who were on-site to aid the Pune fire department.

The critical nature of the incident warranted a vigilant approach due to the substantial risks associated with the leaked gas. To mitigate potential hazards, a continuous spray of water onto the tanker was maintained until a specialized rescue and repair team from Reliance Petrochemicals could arrive.
