The Congress has criticised PM Modi for excluding opposition chief ministers from discussions on Operation Sindoor while sending all-party delegations abroad. It accused the BJP of politicising national security for electoral gain, though confirmed participation in the diplomatic outreach aimed at exposing Pakistan's role in terrorism.

The Congress party has raised concerns over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move to convene a meeting exclusively with chief ministers from the NDA, questioning the intent behind excluding opposition leaders during a time of national significance. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh accused the BJP of trying to extract political mileage from India’s military operation under Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist infrastructure across the border in Pakistan.

Ramesh criticised the selective engagement, pointing out the contradiction between the government's exclusionary domestic approach and its push for multi-party representation in foreign delegations. He emphasised that while the Congress supports India's diplomatic efforts to present a unified front internationally, it opposes the BJP's alleged double standards at home.

Despite the criticism, the Congress has confirmed its participation in the diplomatic missions being organised by the NDA government. These delegations are set to travel to various countries to highlight India's firm stance against terrorism and justify its military action during Operation Sindoor. Senior Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is among those expected to join the outreach.

The Congress has also reiterated its longstanding demand for a special session of Parliament to discuss the operation and to reaffirm national unity, echoing the resolution passed unanimously in 1994 regarding Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Ramesh accused the BJP of politicising national security, in contrast to the Congress’s stated position of prioritising national interest over party lines.

The government’s outreach effort has sparked debate about transparency, political inclusiveness, and the balance between diplomacy and domestic consensus. As India moves forward with its campaign against cross-border terrorism, the rift between the ruling party and the opposition threatens to overshadow what could otherwise be a moment of unified national resolve.
