The matchup, anticipated to be a fierce challenge for Zareen, witnessed her establish dominance right from the start, leaving no room for her adversary to regain footing. 


Zareen's precision and calculated maneuvers garnered unanimous scores of 10-8 in the initial round and 10-9 in the third, with two judges awarding her 10-9, while three delivered 10-8 in the second round.

Looking ahead, Zareen is poised to face South Korea’s Chorong Bak in the pre-quarterfinals, an adversary she has yet to cross paths with. 


Nevertheless, Zareen remains resolute in her primary pursuit of Olympic qualification, with aspirations for the ultimate prize – the gold. In parallel success, Preeti advanced to the quarterfinals of the 54kg category after the referee called an end to the contest in the third round, with Preeti holding a unanimous 2-0 lead after the initial two rounds.
