The Indian Women's Hockey contingent is all set to commence their pursuit of the gold medal in the 19th Asian Games, opening against Singapore on September 27 in Hangzhou.

Riding high on their recent victory in the FIH Hockey Women's Nations Cup, the team is optimistic and eager to take on the top hockey nations in Asia.

Their track record against Singapore is impeccable, securing victories in all three encounters since 2014, the most recent being in the Women's Asia Cup 2022.

The Indian Women’s Team boasts a storied history in the Asian Games, claiming six medals thus far. Their pinnacle achievement occurred in the inaugural 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, where they remained unbeaten, securing the coveted gold.

The Indian squad is eyeing more than just glory in Hangzhou; a gold medal here will grant them a direct entry to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Team Captain Savita emphasized, "We have a great opportunity to secure qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics after a long wait. Our goal is to take it one match at a time all the way to the Final."
